How do I add a speed switch to my Heavy Duty unit?

This article will be a step by step guide on how to install a speed switch on a waste caddy HD, 5w HD, Trailer Caddy HD, Chain Drive 6K, Chain Drive 15K.

First DISCONNECT your main positive and negative from the batteries.

Next open the component cover panel and install the switch in the open spot to the left of the voltmeter. 

Next follow the key wire 18 into the loom and follow the loom until you see a black wire 5 and white wire 20 at the end of the loom. 

Strip the wires back a little and attach them to the green contact block (one per side). 

 

 

Connect the green contact block to the back of the speed switch. 

Next close the component cover panel. Connect your main positive and negative.

Turn the key on and press in the speed switch. If it is installed correctly then the voltmeter will display a (P) on the voltmeter limiting the top speed of the unit by 50%. To put the unit back in high speed then simply twist the speed knob to the right 1/4 turn it will pop out and show a green line on the speed and can be confirmed that it is in high speed by the voltmeter displaying the drive hours of the unit.
